Today, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations with our brother and strategic partner Uzbekistan.

Türkiye welcomed Uzbekistan's declaration of independence on September 1, 1991 and became the first state to officially recognize the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 16, 1991.

From the very first day, our relations with Uzbekistan have developed on the basis of mutual respect and common interests befitting the eternal bonds of kinship between our peoples. Our relations also gained a robust contractual foundation thanks to a multitude of agreements and documents concluded over the past 30 years.

We are pleased with the renewed momentum in our relations with Uzbekistan in recent times. Our relations, which were elevated to the level of “strategic partnership” in 2017, acquired an institutional structure with the establishment of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in 2018.

Our bilateral trade volume and tourism statistics witnessed new records last year. Our political, economic, commercial, military, societal and cultural relations continue to develop further. Our multilateral cooperation is also deepening, particularly at organizations such as the Organization of Turkic States, UN, OIC and ECO.

Based on its profound historical heritage, rich resources and dynamic population, we follow with appreciation and support the reform process in Uzbekistan pursued under the astute leadership of H.E. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the contributions made by Uzbekistan through its rising international profile to the prosperity and security of its region.

As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan, we reiterate our determination to work together to develop and deepen further our cooperation in all areas for contributing to the prosperity, peace and stability of our common geography and neighbouring regions with the strength and inspiration we draw from the ties of kinship between our peoples.
